What To Expect

There is no quick way to learn Calligraphy; it requires practice and perseverance! This course is spaced over 6 classes (to allow for a little home practise in between lessons). Our classes are a gentle paced introduction for beginners, although we'll pack the lesson with plenty of information to take home and continue at your leisure and perfect your new found beautiful gift. By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently use the classic dip-nib Calligraphy Pen correctly (or bring your own pen if you prefer). You will understand ruling up, letter construction and be able to write comfortably in different fonts (hands) and sizes. An ideal course to get you started - suitable for Card Making, Name Plates (table settings), Certificate writing etc. In the last week we will create a Final Piece of your choice, perhaps a poem or card written out beautifully using classic ink on fine card, or perhaps something more daring!? All materials supplied: Dip nib pen, ink bottle & nibs given (to keep). 6 sessions; 12 hours tuition in total. Dates: February 2nd, 9th, 23rd, March 2nd, 9th & 16th inclusive.
