What To Expect

Two-Day Workshop 8th & 9th December 10am-3.30pm both days A leisurely paced 2 day course, for those keen to try a colourful approach! Let Kelly guide you every step of the way from sketching in shape & form, to tonal underpainting, to working up your chosen portrait in oils. Balancing likeness with emotion. Please bring your own reference photo or work from a stock image in the studio. Day One: 'Base in' your underpainting: thinking about composition and layout. We'll learn how to develop tone and depth, giving your work more gravity. Kelly will share her experience, to develop your technique: ready to use the oils in full colour on Wednesday. Day Two: Working up in oils, slowly painting in fine layers to create a with visual intensity, adding thicker and fatter layers of paint with increased confidence. Colour will be King. Oh yeah! All materials supplied. Please bring a packed lunch - or food is available from our neighbour The Cowshed Café. We will break at noon each day for lunch for 45mins-1hr. Tea, coffee, water and good company included.
